5 Ways to Get from Incheon Airport to Myeongdong

The distance from Incheon International Airport to Myeongdong is roughly 49.3 km.

Depending on your chosen transport mode, it would take around 70 to 90 minutes to reach your destination.

So, let’s get to know more about the 5 transport options through the list below.

1. AREX Express Train (Fastest)

To get from Incheon Airport to Myeongdong, take the AREX Express Train from Terminal 1 to Seoul Station, which takes 43 minutes and costs 9,500 won. Then, at Seoul Station, transfer to Subway Line 4 going to Myeongdong Station; it’s two stops away with a fare of 1,250 won.

For those arriving at Terminal 2, you can follow the guidance above. The travel expenses are the same. However, expect an additional 8 minutes of travel time.

The boarding station for the AREX Express Train is in Basement 1 of both Terminal 1 and Terminal 2.

You can use your T-Money Card to pay for the subway fee when you heading to Myeongdong. If not, you can simply purchase a Single Journey Ticket from the ticket vending machine at Seoul Station.

All in all, the single trip fare via AREX Express Train and subway is 10,750 won. If you want to save more money, you can book the AREX Express Train tickets online and enjoy an extra 15% discount!

My Personal Opinion:

If you are arriving at Incheon Airport and looking the fastest way to go to Myeongdong, taking the AREX Express Train is the best answer for you.

But if you have more luggage, then I would suggest you opt for option 5 that I’ve shared below.

2. All-stop Train (Cheapest)

Ride the All-stop Train at Basement 1 of Terminal 1 at Incheon Airport to reach Seoul Station. From there, switch to Subway Line 4 to get to Myeongdong Station.

The fare for the All-stop Train is 4,150 won, and the subway fare is 1,250 won. The entire trip takes about 1 hour and 15 minutes.

For those departing from Terminal 2, the fare for the All-stop Train is 4,750 won.

The All-stop Train is not a direct train.

This train stops by 12 subway stations between the Incheon Airport and the Seoul Station.

I personally do not recommend this method as it takes a longer time to arrive at Myeongdong.

If you take the All-stop Train, you can pay using your T-Money Card or just purchase a Single Journey Ticket from the ticket vending machine.

a) Take a KAL Limousine Bus

The KAL Limousine Bus (#6701) offers direct transfers between Incheon Airport and Myeongdong.

Board the bus on the first floor of Terminal 1 at Bus Stop No. 3B & 4A, located in front of Arrival Gates 3 and 4.

The journey takes around 1 hour and 30 minutes, with a bus fare of 18,000 won. Booking bus tickets online provides a discount of around 5%.

For those looking to take the bus at Terminal 2, the bus stop is located in Basement 1 at Bus Stop No. 18. The bus fare is the same as boarding at Terminal 1.

Drop Off Point:

The bus drops off passengers at Myeongdong (Marine Center), which is conveniently situated near both the Lotte Young Plaza shopping mall and Myeongdong Shopping Street.

Choosing the KAL Limousine Bus comes with several perks.

It provides a more convenient trip to Myeongdong from the airport because you won’t have to transfer from one train to another.

With that, there’s no need to carry your bags and luggage around the train station.

In addition, the bus offers a roomier space so you can easily relax or even sleep after a long hour flight.

That being said, if you’re traveling with children or the elderly, this is a nice option.

Why you should take KAL Limousine Bus?

b) Take a Bus 6015

Another travel option is to take Bus 6015 to Myeongdong. The boarding point for this bus is located at Incheon Airport Terminal 1 – Arrival hall, Gate 5. The one-way trip takes about 1 hour and 20 minutes, costing 17,000 won.

There’s also a departure area at Terminal 2, situated in Basement 1 of the arrival hall at Bus Stop No. 28.

The bus makes its stop at Myeongdong Station for passengers to disembark. There will be an announcement once the bus arrives at each bus stop, so nothing to worry about.

Ticketing Counter

You can purchase bus tickets directly at the bus ticketing counters located at Gate 4 on the first floor of Terminal 1’s arrival hall. For Terminal 2, the bus ticketing counters can be found in Basement 1.

All taxis in Seoul use taxi meter, with a base fare that starts at 3,800 won during the daytime. And if you’re travelling during late-night hours (from 12:00 AM to 4:00 AM), there’s a 20% increase in the base fare.

Another tip when riding a taxi is to take note of the Korean name and address of the hotel or accommodation you are staying in. It’s because most drivers in Seoul are not good in English.

If you want, you can also book a taxi online. Reserving a taxi online is easier because you’ll be booked with an English-speaking driver. The rate, however, is fixed.
